TERMINOLOGY — canonical slugs (Machiavelli)
Canonical slug table for this KB. Concept notes in concepts/ are named by these
slugs. Machiavelli's key terms are false friends: they look like ordinary moral
words and mean something else. This page is the anti-flattening предохранитель.

The virtù problem (central term-note)
virtù is the reason a careful RU translation matters. Marriott (EN) renders the
same Italian word by at least four different English words, hiding the unity of
the concept:

RU must not collapse this to «добродетель». Working RU form: доблесть /
хватка / решимость, with «virtù» kept as the anchor. Where Machiavelli means
the moral sense (ch. XV «professions of virtue»), RU = «профессия добродетели»
and the irony is preserved: it is exactly this that «soon meets with what
destroys him».
RU translation policy («перевод наш»)
No clean PD Russian Prince was ingested. Russian in this KB is:
- term glosses in this table and concept prose — our academic renderings from
the Italian, cross-checked against Marriott. Marked «перевод наш» where a full
sentence is rendered. - evidence blockquotes stay in Marriott EN — the verbatim gate runs against
the English pool, so no Russian paraphrase can masquerade as a primary quote.
